Rembrandt @ The Getty

I went to the Getty Museum with Rudy yesterday. Lak was too lazy and Gary was stuck at work until late :(. There is a Rembrandt Exhibit which has a display of a lot of Rembrandt's works as well as his pupil. I liked the show. I like how Rembrandt tends to depict the flow of the wind in his sketches and I like atmospheric effects that he does. His art has such a nice flow.

The Getty Museum has a beautiful architecture. Rudy was running around taking pics lol. They also have a garden that is also quite nice with a lot of interesting plants and trees.

I love the image of the girl laying down on the banner, but they weren't selling that as an art print or a postcard >:( So as a souvenir, I got a print of Bougoureau's painting instead :p. Oh well, Bougoureau is one of my favorite artist anyways. Plus I saw the original at the Getty Museum, so that still makes a good souvenir for this trip :). He paints the nicest skin!!(below) I still want the Rembrandt's girl too though! wahhh!

Now that I'm all inspired, I need to go look for Red and Black Chalk, White Gouache, and Brown Ink! :p

BlueMarlin & Simpang Asia

Other than the Getty's Museum Trip, Rudy, Lak and I also went to eat yummy food today. It's always a hard decision whenever I go to Sawtelle. Hurry Curry is good, Curry House is good. I haven't tried Furaibo yet, but that's supposed to be super good too. Today we went to eat at Blue Marlin which is a fusion Japanese restaurant. I was SUPER satisfied. Sooo yummy :o

We also went to Culver City for Indonesian food at Simpang Asia. It's a market connected to a little restaurant. We ordered Satay, Nasi Kusing, Ayam Goreng, Risoles, Lemper, Bakwan, and Lontong. Rudy is Indonesian, so he got the hard job of ordering for all of us :p

Pumpkinman Toy

Got a windup-Toy from Arc Light theater when I went there with Grandma last time. I like how the dance is super cheerful lol. He moves his head, his hip, and hands side to side. It makes me happy. Mewmew seems to like it as well.

Today, I went to the Grove with Grandpa, Grandma, and Mom. Then we went to Siam Sunset. Ahhh.. Siam Sunset has the best Thai food in LA. Everytime I go there, I'd come out super full and happy. o^_^o

Charina goes to Disneyland!

I was going to add this to the last post, but I have a lot of good pictures, so I figure it's better to have it's own post :) We woke up and had lunch at Giovanni's, then head to Disneyland. We went for a few hours and took a lot of pictures. It was fun and relaxing. Charina seems to like horses lol. I went on the King Arthur's Carousel, and my foot got stuck on the way down. It was pretty embarassing x_x. While we were standing in line to leave, a girl came and said that her brother thinks Charina is really pretty. She got all shy lol. But we had a short conversation with that family and they were super sweet. It's nice to run into nice people :).

Charina's Concert

Mom and I finally got to see Charina and the rest of the Zaza team perform. They are on a Tour and were playing at the Level 3 club, Kodak Theater Hollywood. Right afterwards, they have to fly to San Diego and she will be back to hang out with us on the 2nd-5th.

Update: Jan 03,2010 - Strolling around Abbot Kinney
Yay! Charina is back. We had mom's special Sukiyaki for Dinner yesterday. Today, we went to have lunch with Grandma and my dad at Gjellini on Abbot Kinney. Then we went to walk around there. Afterwards, Charina and I went to walk around Main Street and Melrose.

O Christmas Tree

above - Little Flying Piggy at my Aunt's place

Alan came to visit, and we spent this Christmas at 2 places, my aunts and my dad's houses. My Aunt has a cool Pink flocked real Christmas Tree this year. It's lovely. She loves interior decoration, so everything coordinated so beautifully. My dad and Grandma, on the other hand, has a very colorful traditional tree. It felt so warm and homey :). There were little photos and random mismatched trinkets on their tree. I love both of the trees. Hopefully, I will get a cute tree for my place next year :).
We also went to the Grove for some Christmas shopping and they had a gigantic Tree with Santa flying across the sky. I like Christmas. Everything is so lively, colorful, and twinkling. It's the best holiday everr!

Amalie & Cubliee

I received an email from Mike and it totally made my day. He sent me a picture of his daughter and little Cubilee cut outs. I gave her a postcard with the characters on them a few months ago. She actually spent the time cutting them out and putting them on little stands and made a little play house for them. I'm so touched. I love that girl *sniff*.

cirque du soleil: Kooza

I took my dad and grandma to go watch Cirque Du Soliel's Kooza in Santa Monica. It's my grandma's first Cirque Show :). I think it was nice. It's definitely not as fancy as some of the other Cirque shows, but the acrobats were good. This one is more focus on the acrobats, so the stage and costumes aren't as good as the other ones. Varekai is still my favorite though hehe.

I got the Cirque Du Soleil's 25th Anniversary costume book! That's right! Oohs Ahhhs! <3 <3 <3 I got an extra one for CP too since I'm sure that he'll be so envious and will want one as well. I also got a green purse from there. Hmm.. I don't really know what to wear with this green purse, but the design is pretty cool. It has a dangling acrobat stick figure in a circle zipper pull. My grandma really likes it lol. I'll figure something out XD.

Gelato Bar

I have been to Aroma Cafe on Tujunga in Studio City a bunch of times, but for some reason, I've never stopped by Gelato bar until Rudy dragged me there the other day. Thank you Rudy! It was so good. I love the decor and the ambiance of the place. It's adorable. I love the lamp that looks like a little branch with pink shades. I'm going to make a little tray that has sugar water and agave syrup in my dining room too! The next day, I took my grandma there. It's nice to see her enjoy her time there. She also love that area because there are a lot of little shops. *rolls in happiness* I must go to sleep now.

Feeling good, Dog Food, and Korokke

On my way to Whole Foods with Grandma, I saw a homeless guy in front of Bed Bath and Beyond today. He was sitting there with his dog. I usually hate seeing homeless people that sits there and beg with their pets. I feel bad for the pets, and I always feel like some of them probably just want to get people that have sympathy for animals to give them money. I drove by, but then I saw a sign next to him that said "Need clothes and food". Well, at least he's not asking for money, so I picked up some fruits for him (since they probably last longer than other things?). I also gave him a bag of dog food, canned dog food, and dog bone treat. I wonder if he'd be disappointed since most of the things in there are for dogs lol. My dad was about to go to a donation center to donate his clothes too, Too bad the guy is bigger than my dad, so he wouldn't fit those clothes anyways.

------------------

I was down for about a week. Well, I haven't been all that happy like my usual self for a while, but the last week was especially bad I guess. Suddenly, I'm feeling good though. I think I'm getting the old positive energy back lol. I'm gonna make everything happen, and gonna make sure that I work hard, and live happily :D. Things will work out. I can do it! Rawwr! I should start working now lol.

Oh, and I made Beef Potato Croquette (Korokke) today. I made Cream Corn Croquette too, but I'm gonna fry them tomorrow. Maybe I'll take some pics and post them tomorrow :) Yummy!

Jasmined Tea Poached Pears

I saw a recipe for Jasmined Tea Poached Pears on Whole Foods Website, so I decided to make it because it sounds yummy. It's really easy to make. You only need Pears, Jasmine tea, sugar, and Ginger. It makes the pear a little bit less sweet and gives off a nice scent of Jasmine Tea and a bit of ginger. I like it. :)

My Shoes

I was cleaning up and realized that I really like my shoes! lol I was never really into shoes. I'm not one of those girls that has a closet full of shoes and purses. Actually I'm the lazy type who likes to wear one pair until it's all worn, then get a new one. (It's not like I have to go to an office and dress up daily!) Lately though, I'm starting to notice nice ones, so I kept buying them. Now I have a few pairs that I really like. Aren't they pretty?

Grandma and Scallops

My grandma came to visit from New York. She's so funny. She's almost 80 and she's still super healthy. We went to have breakfast at Smoke House today and they had sushi grade scallop fresh in its shell! I've never seen them in their shells before. I'm not even a big scallop fan, but it looked good, so I tried it, and I ended up eating 10 of them @_@. Yay for the brunch buffet! I think I scared grandma a bit though. She was like "wow you can eat a LOT" lol.
