Grandma is going back to New York on Sunday, so Pailin and I decided to make something that she really likes. Well our dad also likes it, so we baked them a carrot cake. It was so moist and bouncy. Yes, it was perfect :D Yummy Yummy!

Six Apart Party & Moving Up

I drove up to San Jose. It was raining all weekend, but so many people came to help me move. We had a total of 7 people. My friends are so sweet. My new place is in Japan Town San Jose. It's a lovely little place. I hope the cats will like it. We had Shabu Shabu for dinner at my new place. It was a lot of fun :)
I got to go to Six Apart party and stole some of their cool M&Ms with SixApart Logos on them :p. I also met a lot of very amazing people that are tech savvy unlike me. Ooh and I had indian food which was super yummy. I think it's my 2nd time eating Indian food :o.

CakeDecor Class #3 - Flowers

It's been raining a LOT this week. Today, it was pouring, but I went to take my 3rd class anyways. I learned how to make basic flowers. It didn't come out that nice since I was in a hurry. I had to drive up to San Jose afterward. I think I can make the flowers look nicer next time :p. I kind of know what to do now. The first two cakes went to my Grandma and my dad, and this cake went to my mom's market.
*Basic Round cake pan. Learned how to do basic flower, Shell piping, Ball piping, lace patterns.

CakeDecor Class #2 - Car

Today we made a little car from another round cake pan again. Cut the round cake in half then place them together, sculpt out the car and decorate! Add little gumdrops for the lights and Oreo cookies for the tires. Voila! My car was a bit chubby though. Oops :p
*Basic Round cake pan. Learned how to smooth out icing, Star Fill-in.

Cake DecorClass #1 - Butterfly

Pailin went to Le Cordon Blue for their pastry program, so she can make a bunch of fancy tasty desserts. That's like a full semester of commitment and it's SUPER expensive. Since I couldn't do that, I decided to take a local cake decorating class XD. It's $45 for 8 classes! Well it's not a baking class, so that's probably why it's cheaper too. I mainly just want to learn how to properly make different types of flowers anyways :p.

For our first class, we have to make a butterfly cake. You use a regular round 8" pan to bake the cake. Then you cut the cake in half to make 2 half circles. After that, place them so that the round edges touch each others and the cut sides are facing outwards. I trimmed the wings a bit to make it look prettier. It's nice to know that I can just make a butterfly cake this way and not have to buy one of those butterfly shaped pans :p. Then again, when am I ever going to make a butterfly cake again? lol.
*Basic Round cake pan. Learned how to do the pattern, E piping, crumb coating, and basic frosting.

Happy Faces :D

Tonight's dinner~ Korean BBQ at Soowan Galbi in Korea Town LA.

And Aunt Gina sent me a pic of me with Alan from her Camera that was taken around Christmas time:

Rembrandt @ The Getty

I went to the Getty Museum with Rudy yesterday. Lak was too lazy and Gary was stuck at work until late :(. There is a Rembrandt Exhibit which has a display of a lot of Rembrandt's works as well as his pupil. I liked the show. I like how Rembrandt tends to depict the flow of the wind in his sketches and I like atmospheric effects that he does. His art has such a nice flow.

The Getty Museum has a beautiful architecture. Rudy was running around taking pics lol. They also have a garden that is also quite nice with a lot of interesting plants and trees.

I love the image of the girl laying down on the banner, but they weren't selling that as an art print or a postcard >:( So as a souvenir, I got a print of Bougoureau's painting instead :p. Oh well, Bougoureau is one of my favorite artist anyways. Plus I saw the original at the Getty Museum, so that still makes a good souvenir for this trip :). He paints the nicest skin!!(below) I still want the Rembrandt's girl too though! wahhh!

Now that I'm all inspired, I need to go look for Red and Black Chalk, White Gouache, and Brown Ink! :p

BlueMarlin & Simpang Asia

Other than the Getty's Museum Trip, Rudy, Lak and I also went to eat yummy food today. It's always a hard decision whenever I go to Sawtelle. Hurry Curry is good, Curry House is good. I haven't tried Furaibo yet, but that's supposed to be super good too. Today we went to eat at Blue Marlin which is a fusion Japanese restaurant. I was SUPER satisfied. Sooo yummy :o

We also went to Culver City for Indonesian food at Simpang Asia. It's a market connected to a little restaurant. We ordered Satay, Nasi Kusing, Ayam Goreng, Risoles, Lemper, Bakwan, and Lontong. Rudy is Indonesian, so he got the hard job of ordering for all of us :p

Pumpkinman Toy

Got a windup-Toy from Arc Light theater when I went there with Grandma last time. I like how the dance is super cheerful lol. He moves his head, his hip, and hands side to side. It makes me happy. Mewmew seems to like it as well.

Today, I went to the Grove with Grandpa, Grandma, and Mom. Then we went to Siam Sunset. Ahhh.. Siam Sunset has the best Thai food in LA. Everytime I go there, I'd come out super full and happy. o^_^o

Charina goes to Disneyland!

I was going to add this to the last post, but I have a lot of good pictures, so I figure it's better to have it's own post :) We woke up and had lunch at Giovanni's, then head to Disneyland. We went for a few hours and took a lot of pictures. It was fun and relaxing. Charina seems to like horses lol. I went on the King Arthur's Carousel, and my foot got stuck on the way down. It was pretty embarassing x_x. While we were standing in line to leave, a girl came and said that her brother thinks Charina is really pretty. She got all shy lol. But we had a short conversation with that family and they were super sweet. It's nice to run into nice people :).
