My cat, Coco has been with me for 21 years. I love him more than anything in the world. 3 years ago, he was diagnosed with CRF (Kidney failure), so I have been giving him SubQ fluid injection almost everyday. Then he had hypertension, so I had to give blood pressure medication day and night. Eventually he became blind which really saddens me. He still seems happy despite all these conditions. We lived happily until this Labor Day weekend. He suddenly got sick again. I took him to the emergency hospital and he was there for 3 days. They think he might have some kind of bleeding in his GI track and the treatment didn't work. He also has a small tumor on his neck and something in his throat seemed to bother him whenever he eats. After 3 days on IV fluid and 2 blood transfusions, his numbers were still bad, so the doctor recommended that I put him down. I was very sad, but I really didn't want him to be in pain. At that moment, he was still hydrated and he just had blood transfusion, so he was ok.. he wouldn't last though because the blood count was still dropping. I took him home that night and we slept together for the last time. Then the next day I took him in. He was so floppy and weak. Up to the last minute on my lap, he'd still purred for me and gave me kisses. We were always together.

*I remember when he scratched my leg really badly. I stuck my leg out to protect a dog that he was about to attack, so he got my legs instead. Then he felt super bad and started to act extra cute to make it up. I was never mad at him. He's too cute. :)*I took him to get a private individual cremation at
S.O.P.H.I.E which was a beautiful place. I watched the whole process and made sure I got his ashes back with me. The whole ordeal is very hard, but I really couldn't have asked for a better ending. He didn't have a seizure, he wasn't in pain. He just slept beautifully. Everyone that took care of him were so kind and gentle. He looked beautiful before he went into the crematory as if he was gently sleeping in his usual curled up position. The nurse was kind. The old man that cremated him handled him so gently. I got to see everything from the beginning to the end.
It's been 2 weeks now and I'm still so sad. I won't ever forget him. He's forever my soulmate. Forever~~ *hugs his ashes*
