Clover Bakery

Clover Bakery is a popular place. A lot of my friends seem to really like this place. I think it's cute, but I personally don't like the taste of the bread here that much. The bakeries in Japan are much much better :). I like how they try to be creative here though. Too bad the quality isn't that good. Untasty spaghetti on a cheap hot dog bun doesn't really make me want to buy one. Still, it IS a cute place.

Sculpture Class

I wanted to learn how to sculpt so I took up a sculpture class at LAAFA. I was debating between a 3D class or a sculpture class, and decided to go for sculpture because I think I stare at the computer way too much nowadays. In the end, if I like to sculpt, yay! If not, it can only help me with drawing right? Wow, Sculpturing is soooo tiring! I swear I wake up with muscle soreness the day after each class every week!

David is a great teacher. He is very meticulous. I love the fact that he always try to say the nicest things. I remember during my first class, he was staring at my piece and said "Hmm.. Hmm... how should I say it? .. Um.. Your observation skill is very weak." (Hahaha.. nice way of saying "you suck! Look at the model carefully dammit!") xD. After that, I tried EXTRA hard to observe, but I think my observation skill was still weak T_T.

10 weeks flew by so quickly. People in class were so nice, and I made a lot of new friends. I was the only newbie in the class. Everyone else has taken sculptures before. They were all amazing. I didn't even get close to finishing, but I learned a lot, and that's what matters I guess :).

Urgh...

Bleh... maybe I will finish it later. It's not looking pretty at the moment though -_-;
I think I'm getting sick. It must have been from all those children on the field trip to the Getty's yesterday. I saw FIVE school buses! Those little germs bags! It was also raining.

Bernini at the Getty's

My sculpture teacher at LAAFA was kind enough to gather his students for a little field trip to the Getty's Museum. Afsaneh, Pete, and I decided to carpool to the museum. Too bad they didn't allow any photos to be taken. I was sooo tempted *itchy hands* especially because they were Bernini's Portrait sculptures. Most of the works displayed were done when he was in his twenties, and they were phenomenal. How can someone do something like that out of marbles at 25 years of age??? I love Bernini's works, so it was very exciting for me. The trip was fun, and I met a lot of other sculptors that were friends of Pete and Afsaneh.

Oooh and I learned something about the beautiful sculpture which was one of the main attraction. Costanza Bonarelli was his assistant's wife, which was also Bernini's mistress, and Bernini's brother's mistress as well. O_O Scandalous!!! lol

Coco is Sexy

I don't want my Blog to turn into a Cat Blog lol, but this is one of the best Coco's picture, so I couldn't resist. He has really pretty eyes <3. Anyways, he's doing much better now. I still have to give him Blood Pressure medication and Sub-Q fluid daily. Other than that, he seems healthy. His blood pressure stabilized. He gained 1 lb! I'm so happy :)

Roomba

I finally gave in and got a Roomba. I'm not that into robots, but I like Wall-E, R2D2, and Roomba. They all make these cute little Beepity-Beep noise. Now my floor is super clean! Mewmew seems to like it too :p.

Gaia Picnic

Saturday, I was invited to go to Gaia Picnic. It was more of a gathering than a picnic since it was at "City Beach" which was an indoor rock climbing place. We had food. Then we played Badminton, Pingpong, and Pool. I didn't get to do the "rock climbing" since I was wearing a sandal. I had a mojito though *lol*. Afterwards, we went to check out Phi's new Condo. It was really fun to get together, building furnitures, and moving things. Then we went to Ray's sushi which was uber yummy.

Capoeira

I had to go to San Jose to look for an OLD work file (6 years ago). I can't find it anywhere!! I had a backup disc, and it's just gone *sob sob*. That weekend, I went to dinner with CP, Saka, Alan, Derek, and Laine at a Brazilian restaurant. It's also a Capoeira school and they have a performance there. I really had a great time. Capoeira was really amazing to watch live. The owner was a superb singer, and their instruments and musice was very tribal. It was upbeat, fun, and very energetic. I felt like I was away in a foreign village or something *lol*. The food was also yummy! Too bad my camera was acting stupid, so I couldn't really take nice pictures T_T.

I really want to take my dad there one day. I'm sure he'd love it!

Gallery - Figures & Grounds

Now that I'm back to Southern California, I get to go to Galleries with Gary! It's nice because he's usually up to date on shows and actually would persuade me get my lazy butt off the computer table luring me with yummy food etc. This weekend, we went to "Figures and Ground" show at Nucleus. There were a lot of artist that were displaying their works: Kevin Chen ,Andrew Robinson, Chi-Kit Kwong, John Watkiss, Edwin Ushiro, Mari Inukai, Christian Rex van Minnen, Sean Cheetham, Patrick Leger, and Charles Hu. Mmm.. I ended up buying a print by Kozyndan. It's the Bunny wave one.

Gallery - Fresh Faces

Project Gallery in LA is having a show called “Fresh Faces” showcasing four different artists: Nimit Malavia, Yuta Onoda, Dominique Fung, and Martha Chan. I especially liked the work by Yuta Onoda because they have a nice feel to them that kind of reminds me of James Jean. Nimit Malavia arts also have really nice lineworks. Gary’s friend (James) ran into his Tokyopop CoWorker (Asuka). I thought she looked familiar and later found out that she’s a member from the artist group Ta-su. What a small world! We used to meet at different conventions. Ta-su had awesome shirts! Gary used to work with James when he was working at Tokyopop. James works with Asuka. I did some works for Tokyopo, but I knew Asuka from Conventions, and then Yuta Onoda was like “hey, you’re Asuka? I know you!” It was so funny. Asuka also came with a friend that was so cute. I forgot her name, but she was running around with her bright orange camera taking pictures of random things on the street lol.



And Sweet Gary got me Belated birthday presents.. Awww. Gary always pick the cutest gifts. If I have about 30 Gary-s around, then my room will be full of the cutest things! (I love my owl. It's solar powered, so the head shakes back and forth as if he's saying "no no no" all day lol. It's by the window entertaining my cat at the moment.)
