Small World Exhibit @ Nucleus

Gary was bored so he called and asked if I wanted to go to the opening of "Small World Exhibit" at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra. I think most of the artists from this show are current Disney concept artists. It's obviously heavily influenced by Mary Blair (she is the original designer of that ride), so it was super cute and colorful. I enjoyed the show :).

Of course we also had yummy food :p. We stopped by Noodle King this time. The dessert was at Dessert garden. I didn't like the dessert place as much, but Noodle King was pretty tasty :d.

Feathers in my hair

My mom is obviously more stylish than me lol. She came home one day with feathers in her hair. I've never seen that before. They were so pretty, so she told me to go get it done too.

... and I did :D

Food Network/LA Times Picnic

It was an amazing event hosted by Giada from Food Network. The location was nice. The food were amazing. This was Picnic on the Hills hosted by L.A Times and Food Network gathering 30 amazing restaurants and 30 wine vendors together. All you can eat goodness :). I went with my mom. The thing that stood out for us was the Pitfire Artisan Pizza booth. We had the heirloom tomatoes with Burrata cheese pizza and it was probably the best pizza ever. We all agreed that it's better than Mozza Pizzaria by the the Iron Chef Mario Batali, so that's saying a lot. The guy that was making the pizza also said that he's heard that quite often :p.

Waffle de Liege had interesting waffles. They were made of dough, so the texture reminded me more of Roti than waffle.. I liked them. Ice Ice Shavie also had very good shaved ice. They tasted like they were made of real ingredients rather than artificial flavored syrup. I loved the orange one that I had. They also had a mojito flavor which James would probably love. Angelini, Inn of the seventh ray, The Counter, Pizza Antica, Fig & Olive, BLD, Sprinkles... they were all there.

I wish I have better pictures of this event, but the whole thing was a big blur because I got a call from the vet saying that my cat will need to be put down the next day because he didn't respond too well to the IV fluid and the blood transfusion. Despite the event being really amazing, we were just all too sad to stay and eat more, so we left to go pick up Coco from the vet.

Jordu Schell workshop

He seriously sculpted that hand in less than 2 min in front of us.

I've always wanted to learn more about Sculpey tricks. I'm more of a 2D artist, but once in a while, I'd get the urge to sculpt things, so it's good to know some basics :p. I tried doing sculpey sculptures before, but they'd always crack on me. That was so annoying, so I decided to ask the master Jordu Schell for tips and tricks. We also got to visit his studio, so I took some pics. He really is an amazing sculptor.

As for today's food, we went to BJ's Brewery for lunch and got a GIANT Pizooki (hot baked chocolate chip cookie in a pan with icecream on top).

Mark Mcdonnell's sketch

I got sketches from Mark's class today! These are 5 minutes sketches. I think he saw how frustrated I was because I was having a hard time doing these super quick sketches. T_T

I'm so happy. I'm going to hang it on my wall! *dances with joy*

Happy Birthday to me :D

Today is my birthday! What did I do today...hmm. Well, I just relaxed. I hung out with my dad :D. In the evening I went to Armand Serrano's Power of Value Seminar at LAAFA. It was great! I learnt so much. I think value has always been my weak point. I just have never paid that much attention to it. When I color, I just go by how I feel. OMG, I used to be a professional comic book colorist! lol Tsk tsk. shame on me. I really should've paid much more attention to values since way back then.

Other than that, I got the best present ever this year. Thank you! <3 Look! It's a polar bear spirit hood! So warm, so cozy, so cute! *wiggles*

I also finally got a car phone charger lol. yay! gifts! XD
